Knee Pain

As we age, our joints age with us. Over time, joints that are put under constant pressure eventually lose much of their lubricating fluids. Additionally, the cartilage in joints becomes significantly thinner. These changes can lead to pain, stiffness, and swelling of the joints.

Joint pain is particularly common in your knees. The knees support the vast majority of your body weight and are put under daily strain. As a result, knee pain is one of the most common complaints in doctor’s offices around the country. Thankfully, there are various ways to treat isolated or chronic knee pain, without the need for medication or invasive procedures.

At Tucson Chiropractic Spine & Injury Center, we have the skills, knowledge, and expertise to help get you back on your feet and reduce your symptoms. Before we discuss how we can help improve your quality of life and reduce knee pain, let’s look at some of the most common causes of knee pain in adults.

.

What Causes Knee Pain?

As previously stated, knee pain is often a natural result of age. When cartilage breaks down and deteriorates, the joints become stiff, making it painful to move or fully extend your legs. However, there are also a few other conditions and situations that can cause isolated or long-term knee pain:

  • Injuries, such as a torn ACL, fractured kneecap, torn meniscus, dislocation, or tendinitis
  • Arthritis
  • Excess weight
  • Poor flexibility
  • Over-exertion

Sports-related injuries are one of the most common causes of knee pain. Running, jumping, and lifting without proper flexibility and physical technique can easily lead to torn muscles, ligaments, and joints. This is why it is so important to prepare your body before partaking in any physical activity. Stretching is one of the easiest preventative measures you can take before playing a physically-demanding sport.

Unfortunately, if you’re already experiencing knee pain, it’s too late for preventative measures. You will need to seek out therapeutic and medical treatment to alleviate your pain. Thankfully, a trained chiropractor can help ensure that you experience far less knee pain in the future.

How Can A Chiropractor Alleviate Knee Pain?

There are a number of chiropractic techniques and practices that help minimize pain and rebuild strength in your knees. First, your chiropractor will need to evaluate the underlying causes of your condition, and then develop a comprehensive treatment plan for you. In any case, the following methods are commonly utilized to help alleviate knee pain:

  • Soft tissue massage
  • Spine manipulation
  • Ice
  • Applying pressure to pain areas
  • Various mobilization techniques

Testimonials

Dr. Cross is by far the best Chiropractor I have ever been to. I am 55 and have been getting chiropractic care since my early 20s for my neck and upper back. I recently discovered I have an atlas subluxation and was so happy to discover Dr. Cross. In fact he is the only Doctor in Tucson using this technique. An upper cervical Chiropractor is called an Orthogonist. He is also a holistic Chiropractor treating all areas of the body including health and wellness. So don't walk...run to Doctor Cross

    Cheryl P. Tucson, AZ

Dr. Cross is a superb doctor. Believe it, or not, he has helped me with every health issue, including doing research and reporting things my other doctors didn't know. Dr. Cross advises on permanent fixes, such as exercises to strengthen weak muscles, health programs, vitamins, supplements, and things I should read and research on my own to expand my health knowledge. Keep up the great work, Dr. Cross.

    Margaret W.

Dr. Cross is very knowledgeable, has an engaging personality, and empathy towards the patient.
